Herbal Spotlight: Saw Palmetto Berry

The Saw Palmetto Berry comes from a plant that is also known as Serenoa repens is a dwarf palm tree native to the southeast regions of North America and especially abundant in Florida, Georgia, Cuba, and the Bahamas. It grows in sandy soil and gets its name from the sharp, saw-like teeth on the stalks that attach the tree’s leaves to its stem. The saw palmetto tree produces dark berries that contain a large seed.

Today, the berries of the plant are still the most commonly used part of the plant used to improve prostate health, balance hormone levels, decrease inflammation, improved urinary function and to boost libido!

In Bladder Herbal Tea, Saw Palmetto Berry helps to improve urinary tract function associated with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), which is a condition that causes enlargement of the prostate gland causing decreased urine flow.

In our Libido Herbal Tea, this plant is primarily used as a tonic herb for men but also has nourishing benefits on the female reproductive system. Saw Palmetto Berry works by decreasing the enzyme activity that is responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which in turn helps preserve testosterone levels in the body.
